Father's Day Week of Prayer and Offering, June 7-14

We are so excited at how the Lord is working among us in the areas of church strengthening, church planting, and missions. We have heard several reports of baptisms this year among the churches, and we give God our offering of praise for these precious and now changed lives. Also, during this past year, FVBA has added several laborers to its ministry and for these we are also eternally grateful.

To every generation the Word of God calls people to follow Jesus Christ. Never wavering and never ending, the impact of God's Word stands over every nation as the single source for life's true meaning. The Gospel becomes the all consuming passion for every believer, and it is for this reason the Fox Valley Baptist Association works to bring eternal impact into time. Join us as we who have been eternally impacted by God's Word seek to impact God's world for eternal change to God's eternal glory!

Below you will see the names and ministry descriptions of young men who are now laboring with FVBA pastors and ministry leaders to reach people for Christ. How thankful we are for the calling out of these men.

Your generous offerings will go to meet the ministry needs of these young men as well as other ongoing Missions, Church Strengthening, and Church Planting needs within the FVBA ministry area. Just as God’s Word changed your life, will you help in changing someone else’s life?

They will begin with the campus ministry and work toward a new church start in Sugar Grove. Cornerstone Community Baptist Church, North Aurora is serving as the local church sponsor for the Baileys. Frank Russo is the pastor.A special thanks goes out to Emanuel Aurora who sent 12 of their people on a cold rainy night to unload the Baileys’ moving truck in record time.

Welcome Matt Burton as Semester Missionary—Race Track Ministry

Matt is serving as Interim Worship Leader at Elgin Calvary. Matt and his wife Lucy are members at Calvary. Matt is completing his seminary work at Trinity this Spring. He is a volunteer chaplain at both horse race tracks in the Chicago area—ministering to the track workers.

Welcome Marvin Perez as Church Planting Pastor in North Aurora

Marvin is a member at Bethania Church, Elgin. He has served as the construction coordinator for the construction project for the church’s first building. He has agreed to serve as Church Planting Pastor for an Hispanic church plant in North Aurora. Cornerstone Community Baptist, North Aurora is serving as sponsoring church.

Annual Meeting/FVBA 50th Anniversary Celebration Oct 4-5

A 50th Anniversary Celebration of Fox Valley Baptist Association is scheduled for October 4, 2009 at Larkin Avenue Baptist Church.  Wilma Booth has written to the FVBA churches asking each church to prepare a brief history of your church.  It will be exciting to see how the Lord has blessed in our churches through the years.  Our guest preacher for October 4th is Lonnie Riley.  Bro. Lonnie will continue his teaching time with FVBA Monday night October 5 at Twin Oaks Baptist Church.  Lonnie serves as the Director of Meridzo Ministries in Lynch, Kentucky.  Lonnie and Belinda Riley were recognized as missionaries of the year by NAMB in 2004.

Since the humble beginning in 1999 Meridzo has served thousands in Harlan County and beyond with food, clothing, furniture and appliances, home repairs, church repairs and construction, rebuilt city parks, offered job opportunities, held back yard Bible clubs all over the tri-city area as well as assisting churches with VBS, concerts in the park, festivals at Christmas, Easter and summer events-all by God's design. Laborers from all across the United States have come to the "white fields" of the Appalachians. More than  1,500 decisions for Christ have been recorded.

A verse from the Word...

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” -Jeremiah 17:7-8
