Core Values/Mission/Vision Statement Rewrite

CORE VALUES/Mission/Vision Statement Rewrite
To Be Voted Upon at the Semi-Annual Meeting
6:30pm Tuesday April 13,2010
Calvary Baptist Church, Elgin, Illinois

1. CHRIST CENTERED, BIBLE BASED and PRAYER EMPOWERED: We are God’s workmen doing God’s work in God’s way. God alone gets the glory. (2Ti. 2:16.17). We recognize that when we pray we are strengthened to resist temptation. We also observe that it was when the disciples were praying in one accord that the Holy Spirit fell upon them giving them great power for boldness and effectiveness in proclaiming the gospel. (Acts 2, 4:31, 1st Th. 5:17)
Encourage believers to seek the Lord through prayer and Bible study, individually and corporately; as we grow in our relationship with the Lord others will see the difference Christ has made in our lives and we become living witnesses in all we do to those the Lord brings into our daily lives.

2. EVANGELISM FOCUSED: Proclaiming the Gospel of imputed righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ and calling people to repentance and obedience to the Gospel.(Ro. 1: 16-17, 10:14-15, Luke 4:18-19)

3. REVIVAL SEEKING: We recognize that we continually need a fresh outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit to revive our churches and bring in a great harvest of new converts.(Ex. 33:12-16, Is. 64:1-2, Ps. 80)

4. REMEMBERING THE NEEDY THROUGH MISSIONS: Sharing the love of Christ by responding to human needs through church, associational and community ministries.(Gal. 2:10, Is. 58, 1st Jn. 3:16-18, 2nd Co. 1:3-7, Mt.5:31-46)

5. CHURCH PLANTING & PREPARING LEADERS: Preparing more laborers for the harvest through discipleship and ministry training as new churches are established and people are saved. (2nd Tim. 2:1-2, Acts 2:41-47, Mt. 28:18-20)

A verse from the Word...

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” -Jeremiah 17:7-8
